Piercing care is a major concern to piercers as well as piercees. We at Love My Piercing of course use and recommend our care solution for trouble free piercings. But there are several sites that have some good general information about piercing care that is the standard. If your piercer doesn't carry Love My Piercing care solution, check out some of this information to find out what you can do. Always remember that your piercer is the first start for piercing care. If your piercer is a professional, they should have an after care sheet and tell you what you should do about caring for your piercing.
Some of the Standard Rules:
- Don't touch your piercing with dirty hands. Wash hands before playing or touching your piercing. Preferably don't touch it or play with it at all, unless cleaning it or changing the jewelry.
- Avoid playing with jewelry too much. Over handling as well as over cleaning can cause too much scar tissue and irritations.
- Remember when bathing or cleaning your piercing. Use diluted antibacterial soap on the skin. Rinse very well.
- Spray Love My Piercing Care solution on new piercings 2 to 3 times a day. Do not rinse off. Let soak on skin for about 5 minutes at least once a day. This can be used for all piercings. Oral or genital as well.
- Alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, and other surgical skin preparations are not to be used on a new piercing. Betadine or hibiclens for example are also unsuitable. These can dry or irritate the skin while also slowing down the healing process.
- If there are any problems with your piercing, consult your piercer first, then see your doctor if the help is not satisfactory.
